Some of the results confirm the benefits bovine colostrum can provide in assisting various human conditions. Other results are not fully conclusive but encouraging and support the need for further research.
Use of these research papers is to assist in understanding the potential of bovine colostrum and appreciate the complex and still largely understood nature of this early life giving substance. As with many complementary and alternative supplements, the use of bovine colostrum for medicinal purposes in humans is still undergoing research. We aware of a number of claims that have been attributed to the medicinal use of bovine colostrum. We do not believe the human use of bovine colostrum is a miracle cure and would be sceptical of such claims. We would rather refer you to the pool of research and scientific evidence available. Much of this research supports bovine colostrum ability to support the human immune system, improving recovery times post surgery or illness. There is also evidence (supported to some extent in the papers below) of its ability to support gut health and general wellbeing. More recently, there has been much mentioned of bovine colostrum in sport medicine.

Bovine colostrum and immune function after exercise.
Strenuous and/or prolonged exercise causes transient perturbations in immune function. It is well accepted that this is one mechanism contributing to the higher occurrence of infection (e.g. upper respiratory tract infection (URTI)) in athletes, especially endurance athletes. Effects of bovine colostrum supplementation on upper respiratory illness in active males.

Colostrum is the first food produced by mammals.
